Bedding and Mosquito nets for the a community in need
Purpose
Can you imagine having to sleep on the hard floor tonight? Even without a pillow…? Could you then imagine having to do this for an ENTIRE week? These children have to do this every night and have done so for their entire life.
This is your opportunity to make a significant impact in a child’s life with the confidence that we will personally ensure that every cent goes towards improving these kids’ lives. This is our promise, which we WILL uphold! The 22 children at the Happy Sunshine Organisation have no beds, are sleeping on the hard floor, sharing blankets and have no protection from mosquitos that potentially carry Malaria. Whilst approximately 30 children at the Savong Centre sleep in makeshift beds, without mattresses but instead just a hard wood bed-base that is shared amongst multiple children, including the teacher/caretakers. The children that live here are some of the most vibrant, excitable and engaging children you will ever come across. They have an unquenchable thirst for education and an admirable internal self-belief that they will be a positive force not only in their community but also for their country in the future. This sparked our strong desire to obtain decent bedding for these children so that they can have what every person deserves, a comfortable safe place to lay their head. We call on you to assist these children in anyway you can. We understand that you work hard to earn your own living and deserve what you have. Consequently we will as always work to transparently demonstrate to you that we can place every cent towards the needs of these children.
Goal
Our goal is to make sure that each child has a mattress, sheets, a pillow, and a mosquito net so they can be well rested to learn the next day with the opportunity to achieve their potential in life. Listed below are the costs of materials, labor and fees. The most important thing for these children is not only getting an education, but also having a place that they can feel at home, having a sense of ownership and having a bed that they can call their own. Something that we take for granted but we believe is a basic right. +Updates
17-07-2013 An update on our project to supply bedding and mosquito nets. We have now just passing 80% of our desired amount. We now have some bed frames made as each of these were purchased. There has been a good amount of haggling at the market to purchase mosquito nets, mattresses, sheets etc... We are ever so close and today will hopefully deliver the first of some of the beds. We do still need to funds to purchase some sheets, blankets, mattresses and pillows for the beds themselves. Thank you again for everybody's continued support. 07-08-13 The first of the beds have been made! They are looking brilliant & sturdy. We do still need more funds to supply bedding. Thanks to all of those who have donated so far!
